Role Purpose

Take ownership of product quality and reliability across electronic manufacturing and industrial UPS production. This role requires hands-on technical knowledge to verify and audit inspections carried out by QC personnel, oversee in-process quality controls, conduct supplier conduct pre-dispatch acceptance testing, and ensure effective follow-through on failure analysis and corrective and preventive actions across departments.

Drive supplier quality improvement through process audits, incoming non-conformance analysis, root-cause identification, and implementation and verification of corrective and preventive actions at the supplier’s premises to prevent recurrence and ensure consistent incoming material quality.

Qualifications and Experience

  • B.E. in Electronics, Electrical, Instrumentation or a related electronics discipline. Mechanical engineering qualifications are not suitable for this role.
  • 3–5 years of relevant hands-on QC experience in an EMS (Electronic Manufacturing Services) or electronics manufacturing company. Prior experience in electronics manufacturing is mandatory.
  • Practical experience in ISO quality documentation, internal auditing, non-conformance management, corrective and preventive action (CAPA), and continuous improvement is mandatory.
  • Male candidates preferred; suitably qualified female candidates will also be considered. No specific language requirement.

Key Responsibilities

Hands-on in-process quality control. Conduct physical inspection of UPS parts assembly, wiring, testing, heat-run and pre-dispatch QC. Verify workmanship and conformity to approved drawings, specifications, procedures and inspection checklists. Identify and address quality gaps at the stage where they originate.

Verification and audit of in-process quality. Recheck and audit inspections carried out by designated QC personnel for bare PCB, PCB assembly and soldering. Verify workmanship, inspection accuracy and conformity to approved drawings, specifications and procedures.

Conduct unannounced, sample-based reinspection of previously QC-approved items to identify missed defects and verify the effectiveness of existing QC checks. Provide guidance and ensure corrective action for identified gaps.

Factory acceptance and dispatch clearance. Conduct and document Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) before dispatch. Verify required electrical, functional, performance and safety checks against approved test procedures and acceptance criteria. Record deviations, coordinate rectification and retesting, and confirm quality clearance before dispatch.

Failure analysis and quality feedback. Document internal failures, test failures and field-return feedback. Work with the concerned teams to identify root causes and determine whether the issue relates to design, PCB fabrication, soldering, assembly, testing or a quality-control gap. Translate findings into specific actions for the responsible department.

Quality Actions and Reliability Ownership

Department-specific improvements. Coordinate necessary work instructions, process controls, drawing revisions, test procedure improvements, inspection criteria, ISO document updates and targeted employee training. Ensure approved changes reach the relevant department and are implemented at the point of use.

Corrective and preventive action. Assign and track action owners, target dates, implementation progress and evidence of completion with the concerned departments. Progressively monitor implementation, verify effectiveness and prevent recurrence. Close actions only after implementation and effectiveness have been confirmed.

Immediate flagging of non-conformances. Immediately flag and highlight every identified non-conformance (NC) to the concerned department and management. Maintain its open and flagged status until it is resolved and verified. Escalate overdue, recurring or unresolved issues and ensure suitable containment of affected products.

ISO documentation and auditing. Maintain controlled quality records, failure-analysis reports, NC registers, CAPA records, inspection and FAT reports, audit findings and training records. Conduct process and documentation audits, follow up findings and keep relevant quality-system documents current.

Continuous improvement and reliability. Review recurring defects, failure trends and process weaknesses. Drive measurable improvements in manufacturing quality and product reliability, verify that revised controls are followed, and report unresolved risks and action status to management.

Supplier Quality and Incoming Material Control

Own the quality of purchased materials and outsourced processes from PO specifications through supplier manufacture, incoming verification and confirmed corrective-action closure. Prevent defects at the supplier’s premises and build confidence in supplier QC approval and test reports.

Technical specifications and PO quality requirements. Work with engineering and procurement to strengthen specifications issued with purchase orders. Define applicable electrical ratings, tolerances, materials, workmanship criteria, inspection and test parameters, acceptance limits, drawing revisions, traceability and mandatory test-report requirements. Ensure suppliers understand and use the approved requirements and obtain approval before changing materials, processes or specifications.

Incoming inspection controls. Strengthen incoming QC for raw materials, components, subassemblies, sensing transformers, power transformers, capacitors, bare PCBs and outsourced PCB assemblies. Identify additional checks needed from failure history and quality risks. Maintain current inspection drawings, checklists, work instructions, test procedures and acceptance criteria, and verify that incoming QC personnel apply them correctly.

Supplier process improvement. Visit suppliers to review their manufacturing, inspection and testing controls. Investigate defects at their source, including outsourced wave soldering and manual soldering. Agree and drive improvements to supplier procedures, drawings, work instructions, process settings, inspection methods and personnel training to prevent defective material from reaching Arvi Systems.

Incoming non-conformances and root causes. Immediately flag incoming NCs, contain affected material and escalate to the supplier, procurement and concerned technical teams. Require documented root-cause analysis and corrective and preventive actions; visit the supplier when needed to validate the cause. Set action owners, implementation targets and completion dates, and keep NCs open until actions and effectiveness are verified.

Implementation verification and supplier audits. Monitor supplier action plans and verify implementation through follow-up visits, re-audits and unannounced audits where access arrangements permit. Check that agreed process changes, document revisions, training and quality controls are actually followed. Verify sustained effectiveness in subsequent supplies and escalate recurring or overdue issues.

Supplier test reports and independent rechecks. Require relevant inspection and test reports with each supply, traceable to the supplied lot or items and stating actual results against specified acceptance limits. Randomly recheck selected reported parameters and QC-approved items to confirm report accuracy. Raise an NC for any discrepancy, investigate its cause and require correction of both the product and the reporting or testing process.

Supplier accountability and evaluation. Evaluate suppliers against quality, repeat defects, test-report accuracy, responsiveness, adherence to specifications and commitment to corrective actions. Recommend applicable rejection, replacement, rework-cost recovery or penalties through procurement and management in accordance with agreed PO or supplier terms. Strengthen future PO quality clauses based on identified gaps.

Controlled reduction of incoming inspection. Build reliable supplier QC approval through demonstrated process capability, accurate test reports and sustained conformity. Recommend a gradual move from 100 percent incoming inspection to risk-based sampling only after supplier performance supports it and the change is approved. Retain random verification and restore stricter inspection if defects or report discrepancies recur.

ISO records and continuous improvement. Update relevant ISO quality-system documentation and maintain supplier audit reports, incoming inspection records, approved specifications and drawings, NCs, action trackers and effectiveness evidence. Track defect and recurrence trends, supplier action closure and incoming inspection effort to demonstrate improved material quality and reduced inspection time.

Required Technical and Professional Skills

  • Ability to read electronic schematics, PCB drawings, assembly drawings and wiring diagrams, and assess electronic manufacturing workmanship.
  • Hands-on technical knowledge to assess and verify the work of QC inspectors, supported by testing ability, structured root-cause analysis and clear technical documentation.
  • Ability to coordinate firmly with design, PCB production, assembly, testing and service teams, and ensure actions are implemented and sustained.
  • Strong ownership, attention to detail and the discipline to keep quality issues visible until verified closure.

Accountability

The Senior QC Engineer is accountable for driving product reliability through effective quality controls and verified action closure across departments. The role extends beyond identifying defects: the engineer must ensure that the responsible teams implement the required improvements and that their effectiveness is demonstrated.
