The Limitation of Conventional DBR-Based DC-Side Clamping

Dynamic Braking Resistor (DBR)-based clamping is commonly used in regenerative load handling applications. However, under repetitive regenerative conditions, its limitations become evident because correction starts only after reverse energy has already reached the DC bus. By that point, the UPS and connected load have already absorbed the stress.
